The Camp

Wilpattu Safari Camp is located in a five acre patch of forest tucked in between seasonal rice fields, chena cultivations and the Wilpattu National Park. As our philosophy is to provide guests with an environment that is peaceful and quiet the camp has been limited to 05 guest tents that can accommodate 10 to 12 guests.

At Wilpattu Safari Camp, you can decide on how you want to spend your holiday. If you need to relax from your hectic schedule and spend time just chilling out, the camp is ideal. Maybe a casual village walk or a walk to the beautiful lake close by might just be what you require. If you wish to do a full day safari in your own private vehicle we would be glad to arrange it for you. At our campsite there is no pressure to stick to a tight program. You can decide the pace at which your holiday moves.

The camp has its own separate dining area and a sit out area where you can enjoy a quiet drink seated under the stars.

In light of empowering of local jeep drivers, we have personally picked the jeeps and drivers that accompany us on safari. The quality of both the jeep and the driver is an essential part of the safari experience. If you wish to travel in your own private vehicle, it can be arranged at an additional cost.

We believe that our actions should benefit the local economy and as such we have a “buy local” policy. Most of our vegetables and fruits are bought fresh from the local market. At Wilpattu Safari Camp, we believe we have to be responsible residents and encourage similar minded visitors.  The campsite is powered using renewable energy with a combination of solar and wind power. LED lights are the only lights in our site.  Our toilets utilize dual flush systems. We separate all our solid waste and transport them out of the campsite for recycling. We try to minimize the use of plastic as well.
